In the first article of this series, I wrote about cross-merchant data as the next frontier in commerce. Individual retailers may see one purchase, but payments platforms, wallets, and BNPL providers can begin to see the broader pattern across merchants, categories, timing, and financing behavior. That’s what made my own “nesting mode” move such a useful example. A sofa here, kitchenware there, a fire pit somewhere else, plants from a local nursery, and electronics through another checkout flow. Each purchase looked separate to the retailer, but together they told a much bigger story.
